With document ID c03456297 on 2012/08/14 an advisory for HP Data Protector 6.11, 6.20 and 7.0 was released, describing a problem when running a backup of SharePoint servers using the integration.

The following error might be displayed, within the article the steps needed to solve the problem are described:

[70:24] A system error occurred when starting the target script or an agent module. 
The system error code reported is 1314 and the message resolves to 
'[1314] A required privilege is not held by the client'.

Data Protector and SLES 11 SP2

Since the latest patches for Data Protector (621, 701) the kernel version 3 for Linux is supported to install a new client using installation server. In general there shouldn’t be a problem during the installation, however when you receive following error message (i.e. for OpenSuse or SLES 11 SP2): Unsupported architecture/OS type (Linux CLIENT 3.1.9-1.4-desktop #1 SMP PREEMT …) Skipping Client!, you have 3 options to handle on – 2 workarounds, 1 solution. Workaround 1: do a local installation of core.rpm and da.rpm on the client (packages can be extracted from installation server). Workaround 2: copy the file /etc/os-release to /etc/novell-release on the client in question and start the push installation using GUI. The solution will be the installation of a hotfix (the QCCR number I post as soon I have the fix received).

With document ID c03282611 on 2012/04/19 an advisory for HP Data Protector 6.21 and Data Protector 7.0 was released, describing a problem when restoring NDMP data.
There is fix avaliable and can be requested from HP, the fix will be included in the patches to be released by end of may 2012.

Different customers reported about problems with multipath devices in DP 6.21. The configuration of the multipath devices is no longer possible. The problem is with the GUI only, as backups run as expected.

Following workarounds are possible:
– Open a call and request hotfix QCCR2A35525.
– Downgrade to DP 6.2 (Un-installation of the patch bundle).
– Use GUI from DP 6.20 (please keep in mind that new festures cannot be administrated).
– Use omnidownload and omniupload to modify your multipath device configuation.
